Introduces programming principles through data-science applications, primarily using Python. Students develop practical skills in data structures, control flow, functions, testing, debugging, file handling, object-oriented programming and basic algorithms.
Our ST101A group sessions are designed to make the module feel more manageable. Sessions can focus on clarifying lecture material, rebuilding foundations, working through problem sets, data exercises, coding tasks and exam-style questions, and developing a clearer strategy for revision and assessed work.
Because everyone in the group is studying the same LSE module, sessions stay closely focused on the particular methods, notation and types of question students encounter in ST101A.
Working in a small group also gives students the opportunity to see how others approach the same problem and to learn from questions they may not have thought to ask themselves.
The aim is not simply to work through solutions, but to make sure students understand the methods well enough to apply them independently.

Sessions are held online and are focused exclusively on students taking the same LSE module.
