Introduces the foundations of microeconomic analysis, including rational choice, strategic interaction and equilibrium. Students apply consumer theory and game theory to firm strategy, auctions and other real-world decisions, while also considering behavioural approaches and welfare.

Working in a small group also gives students the opportunity to see how others approach the same problem and to learn from questions they may not have thought to ask themselves.
The aim is not simply to work through solutions, but to make sure students understand the methods well enough to apply them independently.
